WILDLIFE PHOTOGRAPHY – BIG CYPRESS WMA, FL
This is a photograph of a juvenile Little Blue Heron that was taken at Big Cypress Wildlife Management Area . Big Cypress Wildlife Management Area is 729,000 acres in size teeming with life. The area in which I photographed this juvenile Little Blue Heron was in Collier Count, Florida off of I-75 (Alligator Alley). The gear used to take this shot of a juvenile Little Blue Heron was a Nikon D90 camera body attached to a Tamron 28-300mm lens. It was captured while walking along the main trail adjacent to the canal.
The Little Blue Heron (Egretta caerulea) grows to 27 inches. In the adult Little Blue Heron, the adults have a slate-blue body and wings, and the head and neck are a dull dark purple. The juvenile Little Blue Heron are all white, its legs and feet are a dull slaty olive. The Little Blue Heron is a resident of Florida and whose habitat is salt and fresh water mudflats and marshes, swamps and meadows.

Nice! Just today, Larry & I took the kayaks out for the first time this year. Went out on the river north of Hartford and saw a couple of herons. Thanks for sharing, Alan!
Hi Ellen, how are you and Larry doing? What kind of kayaks do you have? The sit on top or whitewater? I have both but prefer the whitewater, especially around the gators!
We're doing well, Alan. We have the quiet water kayaks. No gators in CT, yet!
