WILDLIFE PHOTOGRAPHY – ARCH CREEK MEMORIAL PARK, FL

This is a photo of a Metallic Green Bee that was taken at Arch Creek Memorial Park in North Miami, Florida, adjacent to and just south of Enchanted Forest Park. I came across this insect while walking along the main trail and was amazed at the green metallic color of the body of this bee. The gear used for this Metallic Green Bee  photograph was a Nikon D90 camera body attached to a Nikkor 60mm 2.8 lens. Being it was a bright day, no macro light ring was used.

The Metallic Green Bee in the genus Agapostemon which has numerous members that look very similar and which is found coast to coast throughout United States and southern Canada also occurs in Central and South America. I believe it may be Agapostemon virescens based on the striping pattern of the abdomen and the range of the species.
