WILDLIFE PHOTOGRAPHY – ENCHANTED FOREST PARK, FL

 

This photograph of a Gray Squirrel was taken at Enchanted Forest Park in North Miami, Florida. Camera gear used was a Nikon D90 with a Tamron 28-300mm lens.

Squirrel’s belong to the order “Rodentia”, with 1650 species, it is the largest group of living mammals.  It also comprises forty percent of all present day mammal species..

There are over 365 species of squirrels in seven families. They include the tree squirrel, ground squirrel, and flying squirrel. Plus many squirrel-like mammals such as the gopher, ground hog and prairie dog.

Squirrels are the most active in late winter,  when the mating season begins.   The males will chase a females, as well as, chase off other suitors. This ritual of chasing, occurs through the trees at top speed

      Great Pictures! I have got to get me a lens for wildlife as I do not have a good zoom lens at all. I spend about 7 months in NC Smoky Mountains and really love to get better pictures of the wildlife. Have you hiked the AT? Great shots and I did not know that you could attach auctions and things to your Twitter account. I need to read more about Twitter as I do not tweet regularly. Thanks again for sharing your talent!
