The Mallow scrub Hairstreak Butterfly (Strymon columella) is a member of the Gossamer wing family of butterflies. It grows to a length of 1 inch. From above, the trailing edge of the hindwings are tinged blue. From below, the Mallow scrub Hairstreak Butterfly is grayish in color, crossed with broken dark spots, and an orange black eyespot near the tail. The Mallow scrub Hairstreak Butterfly can be found in fields, and subsists on Mallows and Bay Cedar as its food source.
